A series that explores cultural and economic issues that plague urban communities. It started as an investigation into small businesses that started or closed over the past few years. The optical power of the work is derived from this conflict between the challenging nature of the businesses and the formal beauty of the images that come from it. This series reflects the City of Riverdale’s economy and speaks to the inwardness we must address when confronted with empty places.
